Global Recycled Standard (GRS)

Global Recycled Standard (GRS)

To earn GRS certification, a fabric must meet several key criteria

The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is a voluntary product standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions.

Recycled Content

Recycled Content: The final product must contain a minimum of 20% recycled material. The GRS certification verifies both the presence and the specific percentage of this recycled content.

Chain of Custody

The GRS ensures that the recycled material is tracked and verified at every stage of production, from the initial feedstock to the finished product. To maintain the GRS claim, each stage of this process must be independently certified.

Responsible Production

The standard includes strict social and environmental requirements. This means that certified facilities must adhere to fair labor practices and responsible chemical management. The GRS aims to reduce the harmful impact of production on people and the environment.

GRS certification helps consumers and businesses make more sustainable choices

By providing a clear and transparent system for tracking recycled content and promoting responsible production, GRS certification helps consumers and businesses make more sustainable choices.

Look for the GRS logo on products to ensure they meet these high standards for recycling and responsible production.
